If I Be Lifted Up

The question here is: does this scripture actually say what they say it says?

John 12:32 (KJV) And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me. The question is: are churches who lift up Jesus drawing all men unto Him?

Song's have been written about this very scripture - a favorite of many including me. However, we have a problem here. This italicized word has been added to explain the contents. This is no more than a translator's license to add a word to define the text - a text they did not understand. Jesus well expounded on this:

John 3:3 (KJV) " Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again (born from above), he cannot see the kingdom of God." See: perceive, comprehend or understand   These translators, did not understand the context, so they added what they thought it meant. It is said that many of the translators King James used were not born again but only scholars.

So - Let's look at the context: remember if you take the text out of context you end up with a con. Rightly dividing the Word is what we are called to do.

John 12:27-33 (KJV)   Now is my soul troubled; and what shall I say? Father, save me from this hour: but for this cause came I unto this hour.
28 Father, glorify thy name. Then came there a voice from heaven, saying, I have both glorified it, and will glorify it again. 29 The people therefore, that stood by, and heard it, said that it thundered: others said, An angel spake to him.
30 Jesus answered and said, This voice came not because of me, but for your sakes. 31 Now is the judgment of this world: now shall the prince of this world be cast out. 32 And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me.
33 This he said, signifying what death he should die.

Problem - wrong word inserted. Drop the italicized word men - I will draw all unto me - All what? All Judgment - that is the subject matter of this scripture. Look at John 3:17 (KJV) For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.

He said If I be lifted up I will draw all judgment unto me. Sin was judged in the body of Jesus when He hung on the cross. Jesus came to pay for the sins of the whole world - past, present and future. This is the tragedy! All sin has been paid for but there are so many who have not yet accepted this by faith and have become born again. Jesus made us right with God by giving us His very own righteousness so we could go jump on our Daddy's lap at any given second and love and be loved because the Blood of Jesus is an Eternal sacrifice.

How awesome is our Lord who bare the judgment of God for us and as us that we might be born again and be given the abundance of grace and the gift of righteousness. John 1:12 (KJV)  But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name...
